Day 1: Start of unfogettable journey from Chandigarh to Chopta, Tungnath and Chandrashila
Beginning of a 466 km Journey from Chandigarh to Chopta, Tungnath and Chandrashila: On March 10, Morning my friend and i left early in the morning at 5 A.m. We rented an Avenger bike and started our journey via the route of Haridwar, Rishikesh, Devprayag and Rudraprayag along the adventurous road. We saw the confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi on our way to Chopta. The trip was incredibly exciting as we traveled through these serene cities. The roads were filled with twists and turns. The temperature dropped as we got closer to Chopta and we had a nagging feeling that snow would fall.

Day 2: Snowy morning at Chopta before heading towards Tungnath and Chandrashila Trek
When we woke next day it was a winter paradise. A white layer of snow had fallen on the landscape early in the morning. We tried our best to ride our bike as close as possible to the starting point, but the snow prevented us from going farther than two kilometres. After leaving the bikes on the side of the road, we walked the remaining 6 kilometers to the trek’s starting point over the snowy route.

Trek of tungnath, with all the snow around is not for the weak. The path was covered in snow and lined with jagged rocks, puting our stamina to the test. As we get closer to our destination, the summit motivated us with each step we took. We spent hours hiking through tough conditions before finally arriving at snow covered Tungnath Temple, the highest shiva temple in the world. It was a regarding experience when we reached the top. After resting for few minutes and enjoying the beauty of tungnath we decided to move forward toward Chandrashila.
The complete snow trek made our journey more challenging and added difficulty to the route. After trekking for 1.5 km, we finally reached our destination, and the view from the top was indescribable. It was something beyond words, a feeling as through you were standing on top of the world.
Day 3: Heading towards Deoria Tal

After returning from the beautiful trek of Tungnath and Chandrashila, the next day we decided to begin our journey towards the Deoria Tal Trek. Situated at 2438 meters, this calm lake is surrounded by thick forests. In Comparison to Tungnath- Chandrashila trek, this one was quite simpler. We were awed by the stunning reflection of the mountains on the lake’s surface as soon as we arrived. It was the perfect plane to unwind after the long and challenging hike to Tungnath and Chandrashila.
Day 4: Back Home
Last day was all about driving back home, which was heartbreaking. We drove down the hills, leaving the place with lot of memories, following our route through Rudraprayag, Devprayag and Rishikesh. The immense beauty of Uttarakhand stayed with us throughout the journey. This trip left me with countless memories, in my mind and i will always hold a special recollection of Chopta, Tungnath, Chandrashila and Deoria Tal.
